One of our supporting churches recently asked for a report from us, in the form of the following questions. I wanted to share part of it with you all, since you may have some of the same questions. What is your primary task or role as a missionary? I am an International Bible Translation ConsultantContinue reading “So, what do you do all day?”

Thank you for praying. Today was the second (and last) day of the teen day camp and 16 teens attended. We drove them from the village into town to the ministry house where we are staying. After praying, we sang a couple praise songs, then one of the summer teamers, Patrick, gave a short gospelContinue reading “Day 9, Croatia trip: 2nd day of teen camp”
Day 6, Croatia trip: VBS lesson–Jesus calms the storm
Thank you for your faithful prayers. We had an excellent VBS session. There were around 60 kids who attended. The lesson was on Jesus calming the storm. The kids listened really well, the team did a fantastic job acting out the story, and the children did a good job making their handcraft of a bracelet.Continue reading “Day 6, Croatia trip: VBS lesson–Jesus calms the storm”

Dates, dances, and printing the Gospel of Luke & 50 Bible stories
Ariela (10) and I enjoyed a wonderful evening together with other daughters and FROGs (Fathers, Relatives or Other Guys) at her American Heritage Girls troop. The theme was dads as superheroes. I am blessed and honored to be her “hero”! We continue painting our house in Belton, MO, in prep for our move in mid-May.Continue reading “Dates, dances, and printing the Gospel of Luke & 50 Bible stories”
Lost (and found) in translation: installment #3 ; Luke 1:1-2
The opening of a story or a letter is important since it sets the tone for, and makes clear the purpose of, what is being written. This is no less true for the books of the Bible, than for any other literature. Luke opens his gospel account with a densely worded introduction and sometimes theContinue reading “Lost (and found) in translation: installment #3 ; Luke 1:1-2”
