Pray for Kirsten’s school application; praise for SHARE & b-day celebration

As you can see in the top two pictures, we enjoyed celebrating Pamala’s birthday a couple weeks ago. We were even able to pull off a surprise party for her during the SHARE conference where good friends whom we don’t get to see often could be there!

Speaking of SHARE, we had a great week as we always do at this annual Family Education Conference. The other picture above is of the SHARE children’s program at the end where the kids sang several songs. Ariela is dressed as a Roman soldier to go along with the week’s unit study on ancient Rome (she and Daniel are in the picture, just a bit hard to pick out).

And, speaking of education, we have a big prayer request. After prayer and considering all the options, we have applied for Kirsten to attend Black Forest Academy (BFA) in Kandern, Germany. This is a missionary boarding school and she would like to go there as of September 2019 for her sophomore year (10th grade). This would be a big step for all of us–we have home schooled the kids on the mission field so this would be the first time for us to do boarding school. It would also be challenging financially since the cost is over $15,000 per year, which we certainly don’t have in our budget.

However, since we live in a small town in Croatia where there are no other MKs, we feel that for Kirsten to bloom spiritually and socially, an international Christian school like BFA would be very beneficial.
We have turned in the paperwork which BFA urged us to do quickly since the dorms are filling up. So here are the prayer requests:

1) That if the Lord wills, Kirsten will be accepted to attend BFA.

2) That the Lord will provide the $15,000+ to cover the costs to do this.

3) That whatever happens, the Lord will provide for Kirsten’s spiritual and social needs, for His glory and her good.

It is so nice to know that you all are there, praying for us. I’m relieved that I can send these prayer requests to you and know you will be praying.
We’ll let you know how the Lord answers.

Gratefully,

Todd

Todd, I will pray for your daughter’s school needs. I can relate, a little. Our daughter, she’s now 40, spent some of her grade 7-12 years in a youth hostel at Ukarumpa, PNG. While my wife and I worked in a village, no road. I think it was harder for father than for daughter. She loved it, most of the time. She has done well. Good school. After she graduated from high school, we returned to the States. We had been out of the country for 5 years so I could not obtain auto insurance. I traveled with daughter on Greyhound bus from Mpls /St Paul to Taylor Univ in Indiana. Other families were unloading SUV’s full of stuff for their kids. We arrived with a couple suitcases, that’s all. Jess was not up on the cultural cues, the pop culture information. She did well. But it was hard at times. I used to know a teacher at BFA. Take care, young man. You are doing a lot, that’s for sure. May God look out for you and your family! He will! Including for the finances. PS. I like cake. That was cruel, sending photos of cake. 😉 Happy Birthday to your wife. In Christ, Colin Murphy Update writer for the Seed Company, located in New Mexico

    1. Hi, Colin, That’s very interesting to hear. I didn’t know you had served in PNG. Yes, boarding school is a big step and a challenge. Thank you for the encouraging words. Blessings, Todd
